I'm not that big of a modding person. The only mods I've ever used are Forge, Optifine, and Rei's minimap, and even with those I needed some help installing them. I recently found Pixelmon thanks to the Mindcrackers, and it just now occurred to me. Did they have to downgrade in order to play Pixelmon, or are they playing it in 1.7.4?
If they're playing it in 1.7.4, I need some help with installing it. If they downgraded their clients in order to play it, then never mind.
If you are playing it in 1.7.4, go into your ".minecraft" and open "versions". Copy the folder "1.7.4" and paste it. Rename it to whatever you want, but remember what you named it. Open it up and rename the "1.7.4.jar" jar file to what you named the folder. Also rename "1.7.4.json" to what you named the folder. Open the ".json" file with a text editor and change the "1.7.4" in parenthesizes into what you named the folder. Run your MC launcher and create a new profile with the version selected as the folder's name. Now you're done!

Tried it with no go. When I open Forge and click Install Client, it tells me I need to run 1.6.4 manually at least once. What does that mean?
Oh, I'm so sorry. I forgot Pixelmon is a Forge mod! It's asking you to download and run Minecraft 1.6.4 before you can install Forge. After loading it up at least once, you can install it. I hope I helped.

No worries. I did that, and got Forge to work. However, when I'm in the launcher and try to launch the game, it crashes right away. (Can post the crash log if needed)
