Still looking for a solution for this so here's some updated info regarding it
This is with the GUI set to the largest it'll go. Of course it makes it look better but you can still somewhat see the jagged edges. I usually keep it on medium/normal or whatever so as you can imagine it looks worse when smaller..

Again, at lower GUI scales it looks worse...
Here's another screenshot of just random wild
Now...here's the image zoomed in. One with optifine zoom, the other simply zooming in with photoshop
The first one is zoomed in via photoshop to show you the fuzzy blurred effect I have for the distance
The second is zoomed in via Optifine for comparison
hey, i know this is an old post, but i found it via a google search. i am having the same exact problem in 1.7.2, with the A'thyres Ascended pack. It was working fine yesterday, but when i turned on minecraft today, all the letters are blurry, and the images are very very messed up. i tried changing all the setting, doesn't work. i am currently using the following mods "Optifine 1.7.2 HD U B2", "Finder Compass 1.7.2", "1.7.2 Damage Indicators Mod-3.0.0", and for modloaders, i use multi-mc 5, which comes with 3 different forge mod loaders, i would name them except when i open the mods folder in minecraft, it crashes. this started yesterday. if anyone could help, it would be great. if i can figure out how, there will be a picture below this showing a screenshot of the game.
and below is a zoomed in picture of the text (hopefully)
If you are running in 1.7.4 Under the Super Secret Settings the last setting is sort of weird, it looks normal up close and everything else far away is blurry. If you messed with the super secret settings that could be it, so click it once more and see if that fixes it.
no, i mean on the main menu, and on the text chat area as well. and i realized what the super secret settings thing was the first day, lol. it's not that. i'm working on a new texture pack, hoping that might fix it.
Just figured this out: had the same problem with my faithful resource pack on all versions above 1.7.2. It involves the mipmap settings. If your mipmap settings are off and it is still off, put them to 4 and then reset them to off and it will work instantly.
