I recently formatted my computer, cleaned it and overclocked a bit. I've been getting everything set up the way I want it and today I was setting up Minecraft. I use John Smith texture pack that I've modified myself a bit and noticed two things.
1. The text is rather...more pixelated that it normally is. As though the font size has changed and lost quality or something.
2. Whenever I look off to the distance everthing's not as clean looking as it used to be. Like it's all of a sudden lower resolution or something. And during movement there's so much noise and static in the image it's REALLY noticeable.
Anyone know if there's anything I can do about this? And before the obvious responses come up...
Yes, I have the latest drivers for my graphics card.
Yes, I have installed Java (Both 32 and 64 bit)
Yes, I've used MC patcher.
This might be a stupid suggestion but i think its worth a shot: Is your monitor resolution (windows thing, not minecraft) set to the correct resolution for your monitor?
Anything but the native resolution will look blurry.

PostAblindmind1:Tnt can also be uses to see caves underground...unless they removed that bug.
Malacodor: With enough TNT you can see caves without using bugs.

Yes. As I've said I have the latest graphic drivers and set my resolution to the highest the second I got them.
Nope, just plain ol' Minecraft. Used it before I formatted and everything was fine.
Well you've probably already tried this but I'll say it anyway. Maybe you should use optifine instead of the plain old MCP. There's a lot of settings to make minecraft look better and it works really well for me.
Well I just tried Optifine by itself, MCPatcher by itself, both leave me with things blurred and fuzzy and pixelated text, same as before.
So neither one helps. I tried both my modded John Smith and a fresh install of one I just downloaded. Same results. If anyone has any idea I'd really love to hear it...
it looks to me like this is some sort of issue with your screen resolution, actually. as if it's trying to render just a few more pixels than your screen has space for (or perhaps the opposite, stretching it by a few pixels)
check your graphics card's settings and make sure its set to your native resolution.

Anyway, yah, dont use a texture pack for a little while and see what happens. Default for a day, and then we'll can narrow down the list of possible problems a little more.

Inspiration another 32x32 pack works just fine, default works just fine, even faithful 32x32 works just fine. They all work with both optifine and MCpatcher. It's specifically John Smith.
For those wondering if it's my configuration settings they are as followed,
I've tried it with both the settings all the way up and all off. I'm still getting this noise and fuzziness to the game. I have this posted in three places now and still no one has any idea as to what's going on

open the johnsmith texture pack, check terrain.png. see what size the image is. it should be 512x512. if it's even a pixel off from that, it could be the problem.

I am ninja'd far too often.
Patched for HD yet? (MCPatcher or Optifine)
Already tried that. I've played for almost a year with the same settings.
do lower resolution texture packs also look off, like the default?
I had backed it up before I formatted and last I played? Everything looked fine.
