OKAY! So let me make a quick summary of the problem, then the error log, then the exact steps I took.
I want to install the fast building mod. Basically an awesome-ass mod that allows you to build super fast with one click. Now I've installed it before on another computer, but for some reason my game on that computer started crashing all the time if I tried to use a modded version!
So I figured it was just because I was using Mineshafter. I was always gonna get Minecraft anyways; I just wanted to see if I liked it or not. I did. Quite a bit. So I bought the game. Obviously. So I tried installing the mod using a modded version, but this didn't work; the game crashes with the following error log. Exact steps I took below the log.
OKAY! So my exact steps were, essentially, downloading the mod, opening %appdata%, etc, etc, getting to the "versions" folder. Then 1.7.4. Then I copied both documents in there (the .jar and the .json) and went back to the versions folder. I created a new folder named "1.7.4 Modded". I pasted both docs into that folder. I then renamed the docs "1.7.4 Modded.jar" and "1.7.4 Modded.json". Then I opened the ".json" doc with Notepad and changed this.
The only change I made was in the first tiny bit there, where it says "id": "1.7.4", I changed it to "id": "1.7.4 Modded".
Then I went into the ".jar" doc and deleted the entire META-INF folder.
Then I extracted the docs from the mod into the ".jar" doc.
Then I went to the launcher, created a new "profile", loaded up my newly-made version, and went to play. I got all the up to the play screen, where it gives the option of multiplayer, singleplayer, options, language selection, etc. I clicked "play", and it closed back to the launcher, giving the error log I showed you before.
Finally, I recreated a META-INF folder, went to the original version in the versions folder, copied the MANIFEST.MF, placed it in the META-INF folder, and retried playing the game. No change.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! I'm building a city, and it's gonna take months and months WITH that mod. Imagine placing one block at a time instead of 64............ Oh god................ Anyways, please help me! What did I do wrong, and how do I fix this?!? Thanks!!!
(And no, I'm not getting Forge or Modloader. First, I don't personally think they work that well. Second, I know this can be done easier without them, as it's the only mod I want/need. Third, more chances of screwing up.)
