I have tried to install forge several times and today I got up to 2:59 (tutorial video: ) An error message appears that says: "you need to run version 1.6.4 manually at least once." I ran Minecraft and downloaded the new launcher from https://minecraft.net/download but although it clearly is the new launcher, at the top of the screen, it says "Minecraft launcher 1.3.7 When I run minecraft, there will be all the blocks from the new update. The error message STILL shows up. Does anyone know how I can fix it? I will answer all questions! thanks!
minecraft launcher 1.3.7 is the launcher version, not the game version.
load minecraft launcher and click the new profile button on the bottom left, call the profile whatever you want, then on the version selection dropdown menu select 1.6.4, save the profile and run the game.
close minecraft and then run the forge installer.
