So, I really wanted to install some mods, but I didn't think I would need forge (Derp). So I looked at those videos that are like "Super Easy!!! 1.7.2!!!", and so when I tried to do the whole think with WinRAR and renaming a bunch of your stuff in the .Minecraft folder, I really screwed up. When I tried to download Forge it wouldn't let me. Is it the fact that I renamed everything or could I just've been using the wrong Forge? When I tried on a different computer, Forge loaded up nice and good. Help? Please
forge doesn't exist for 1.7.2+ yet.
you can only mod upto version 1.6.4 with forge
Simply all you do to mod is.
1.download forge installer http://www.minecraft.../board,3.0.html
2. load minecraft and make a new profile, call i whatever you want, and set it to version needed (1.6.4 etc) and run game once.
3. close minecraft and run forge installer. then run minecraft, you will have a forge profile now, close minecraft
4. download mod you want (make sure you have right version for minecraft.
5. drop the mod zip/jar into the mods folder
6. play minecraft using the forge profile

Moderatoryou may find it easier if you clean out your .minecraft folder (keep the saves folder) so you have a clean unmessed with set of files
