I was in the process of finishing my underground house in my world, then Minecraft crashed with the Ticking Memory Connection error. When I reloaded Minecraft and my world, huge portions of the surface and the inside of my house were gone and there was random stone and other underground blocks inside. I didn't have a backup of my world before that I had manually made, is there any way to undo it?

Yeah, what a f*cking joke. Happened to me too, in the worst possible way, and there is ZERO info on it anywhere.
For me, it only seems to happen with worlds that were built with mods and then ran later in vanilla, i.e. running a FTB world in my vanilla (and losing about 40 hours work TWICE because of a freeze, ticking memory error, self-reset to original terrain.)
This is the second of my rather time-intesive builds that have succumbed to this error. Unbelievably crappy. May have to do with mods I have on my jar as well; I have optifine, TMI and single player commands. looking at the map i was working on though, it had random stuff like "portal gun" files in there, which leads me to believe it's something about the game not being able to handle modded files in (relatively) vanilla minecraft.
Make sure to save backups ALL THE TIME. I'm going to start attempting to splice any world info from modded worldsaves into empty non-modded ones and exclude the mod stuff to see if that helps in the future. til then, SAVE BACKUPS EVERY 20 MINUTES OR SO.
make a brand new world, then open up it's save file. make note of the files in the save file. then, go into your other, glitched world, and look for anything out of place- IN PARTICULAR ANYTHING THAT HAS NEI, PORTALGUN, OR ANYTHING WITH DATA OR "FORCED CHUNKS" IN IT. delete them all, the world will run fine, and it may fix the issue, as it will remove all the modded junk from your world.
the first time i got this error was about two months ago, got it twice in three days. did that, been fine since. just did it again to the world i lost tonight, will update to see if it fixes it. but reading around, it seems to have everything to do with forced chunk loading, i.e. as used by FTB quarrys, etc.
I Think i know how to fix this, well i worked for me....
Step 1: Locate your .minecraft folder
Step 2: Open Saves, then open the world that crashes
Step 3: Then Remove the world "DONT DELETE JUST REMOVE IT TO YOUR DESKTOP"
Step 4: Open and Lanch Minecraft
Step 5: Open Single Player
Step 6: Add the World back into your saves folder
Step 7: and then go back to your main menu and open your World
Step 8: then it should work...
It That helped, your welcome ... and i hope you enjoy playing minecraft again in that world (and if that didnt work, maybe its your minecraft. try other worlds and if still doesnt work its your minecraft)
