I used to run a 1.5.2 cracked free version of minecraft, until my friend gave me his legit account.
So I installed the 1.7.2 version, and it worked fine. Then I tried to download Aether II mod from TheGamingRehab's .zip and it blackscreens after the mojang splash.
tl;dr: My screen goes black after mojang splash.
Also, if someone could provide me with a working Aether II mod, it would be greatly appreciated.
Turns out I was using an outdated minecraft launcher, so that option didn't appear.
Anyways, now I'm running 1.6.2, but the launcher does literally nothing. No error screen, nothing. Even when I open Task Manager nothing shows. I've also tried dragging into the .minecraft folder and renaming it "launcher", but still nothing happens.
As you were messing with mods and doing it on the wrong versions etc i would suggest you delete all but the saves folder (so you keep old maps) in .minecraft, and run the client, then make a new profile (clearing the .minecraft will clear profiles)
Run the profile to download the minecraft files, and read this thread to see how to mod in the new launcher.
This way your starting with a nice fresh clean folder with nothing old to cause issues.

This won't effect anything on my friend's computer, right?

Yeah. What am I supposed to do with the Aether launcher, maybe I'm not using it right?
You should be using your own account, not your friends login details. if he is still using his account then it will cause issues as you can't login in two different places at the same time
All mods should have install instruction on their forum thread/website
Downloading mods etc is local only, it won't effect him at all, its just sharing accounts could be an issue at some point.
You should look at getting your own account really.

ModeratorIts for 1.6.2 as forge/mcp have not been updated to 1.7.2 yet, hence your crash

Aiight, good. I just wasn't sure since it was the same account and didn't want to mess it up for him.
Did all that, but still...
