I have forge 1.6.4 installed, and when I try to play minecraft the launcher disappears for about 10 seconds then reappears instead of launching the game. Is there any way to remove forge?
Forge will only run if you select the 'Forge' profile on the launcher. You can just run the Default one and it'll run vanilla 1.7.2 or you can set up other profiles if you want other vanilla versions.
If you want to completely remove it from your system, go to your minecraft directory and go to the 'versions' folder. Delete all folders beginning with 'forge' and that'll remove it.
ok, thanks. but i would also like to know what the problem is and if it is fixable. does forge conflict with anything that i might have in my .minecraft?
