Hey guys I am a relatively new minecraft player. I just discovered mods. I have an i7 dualcore laptop with 8 gigs of ram and intel HD4000. Every time I try to select the multicore setting in optifine the game just closes. Is there some sort of specific set of settings that need to be magically alligned for an intel hd 4000 to play in multicore? If so, for the love of God, what are they?
What part of i7 is not clear? Have you ever heard of a single core i7? Also i mentioned the gpu because it is mentioned in the optifine forum post that you need specific settings in your gpu so that it runs multicore properly.

Unless your 1 core, is backed up by threading. But obviously Optifine doesn't agree. It shouldn't crash your game anyway.

Well to be honest I am not sure enterily what you mean by that. All I know is that I have a dual core i7 @ 2Ghz and that when I try to enable multicore the game just closes.
I can run opti fine on a i core 7 3770k, I core 7's are quad processors with 8 threads (normally). What is going on here since your CPU is acting as a GPU because you got on-board graphics, opti fine is viewing as a single core, From my understanding when a processor goes into GPU mode it only uses one core. If you had a graphic card opti fine would support the processor no problems.
but It is always in gpu mode because there is only the gpu on the cpu no other so even to dislplay my desktop my cpu would have to be in "gpu Mode" so I would never get 2 cores.
You cpu would only ever enters into gpu mode when it has a high draw for graphics, doing common work such as browsing the internet or other work isn't much a demand on a processor.
So one cannot use multicore on minecraft unless you have a dedicated graphics card? What pc would do better then my i7 on single core or dualcore e1200 @2Ghz using both cores? So I cannot use multicore?
OH forgot you had integrated, No you can't use multi core, but if your on a desktop its a simple matter of buying a graphics card for it, Then having your computer use that graphics card.

Its simple, you don't have a multi core processor.
