I am trying to help my 10 year old son upload mods...Through much time, sweat and frustration, .I have navigated WinRAR, versions, mods, uploading, downloading, extracting, and archiving.....however, I cannot get Meta Inf to stay deleted!!! I have exhausted my knowledge base. We are using Windows 8, Java 7 update 45, we have several Minecraft versions (1.6.2, 1.6.4, 1.7.1 and 1.7.2). Each time I go into the WinRAR version and delete Meta Inf I close it and open it again to make sure it is deleted, but as soon as I open Minecraft in any version the mods aren't loaded and when I open the directory of the version Meta Inf is back....Any help you can provide to a desperate mom would be appreciated!

OK, me again....Now I have copied the version, renamed it and changed the Json file to match the new name, but it is not appearing in the menu of versions when I go to create a new profile. I have typed the path in the game directory.....Thoughts? Hints?
Did you delete META-INF in your new, copied version? If not, do so, and that may fix it. If not, try redownloading minecraft and then copying it again., you may have screwed something up by trying to delete META-INF on the original file.
