So here is the deal, I bought Minecraft Downloaded and Installed 1.7.2 I have built and played worlds already in vanilla Now I want to get into modding and was told Minecraft Forge was the way to go.
I went to the site in wiki and downloaded the "lastest" version Ran it in Java and it came up with message "You must run in 1.6.4 manilly at least once"
Now here is my question If I am running 1.7.2 how do I go about installing Forge 1.6.4?
I can install it manually BUTI need to know step by step exactly how to do this because I have tried researching and following the steps provided by others but nothing seems to happen. Is this because I am running the latest version 1.7.2?

simple answer is you don't.
you have to wait for the mcp and forge teams to update before you can mod 1.7.2 with forge mods.
just use the launcher to downgrade to 1.6.4 and mod that with the forge thats available, make a new profile, call it 1.6.4, and select 1.6.4 in the version drop down menu. run it once to get the files, then mod away
