I really need some help. I have been doing this for who knows how long, I have already got Minecraft Forged downloaded when 1.6.2 came out and I've been trying to update to 1.6.4 since 1.6.4 has been out, I've been searching Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube and everywhere about updating Forge from 1.6.2 to 1.6.4. and all it says is "How to install it" not how to update it, Like when you first download it, you click on a Java file and you get 3 options, "Install Client", "Install Server", and "Extract", but when I download the 1.6.4 file by clicking on "Installer" on Forge, I don't get that Java file, instead, I only just get the installer JAR file.
Can someone help me me out, this is really stressing me out.
The installer jar file is what you need, if you install a newer version of forge while an older one is already installed, it will create a new 'version' folder with the updated version of forge under the same profile.
In other words, it will appear as if nothing has changed, just continue using the 'Forge' profile when you start minecraft and it'll be updated. It will leave behind the old version of forge in it's own folder (in the 'versions' folder in the .minecraft directory).
So to update it, download the recommended 1.6.4 installer jar file from http://files.minecraftforge.net/, right click on it --> open with --> Java™ Platform SE Binary. Then 'Install Client'
Well, thanks, I was doing it all wrong, no reason is wasn't working.
