We have an SMP (modded) going for our group of friends. I was finally able to get in (that's a different story, but it's working now).
Only I can't do any actions with the right mouse click. I can "hit" things with the left button, and there's movement with the right button (I know the button is working, it's a practically new mouse). This means I can't use a bed, furnace, open a chest, use a crafting table, etc.
I installed the mouse's software - it's a Logitech M705.
It works great if I'm playing SSP, but is not working in our SMP game.
Any thoughts or ideas?
We're using 1.6.4 modded, and have even reinstalled the config folder.
How about Options->Controls->Use Item (right side is description of an action, left side is keybindings, if it is red, key has been binded on 2 or more actions), look up for mouse 2 keybind (thats right-click)
Otherwise, might be mouse driver you installed.
Can't think of any more reasons.
Edit:
Spawn protection radius affects players that are not OP'ed. OP overrides it.

I will try that first part.
I didn't have the mouse software on at first and it was doing, so we thought that might be the problem. That's when I installed the mouse driver/software, and it's still doing it.
I had several conflicts for my controls, but that button did not happen to be one of them. I resolved all the conflicts, but still not working.
Also, and possible related, when I used the left mouse button to punch a block, it pops (the sound when you get a block) but the block is still there a half second later.
On thinking about this setting, I guess it's to protect the original player from other players - since it kept me from accessing trunks/furnaces, or destroying blocks.
And I guess we've never encountered it before because we normally head out and explore, looking to homestead usually at the joining of 2-3 biomes. On this seed, however, we spawned into a Jawa village with a smeltery.
now that we are at it, to protect spawn is a good thing when having spawn structures on public servers etc. In-game mechanics work a bit odd, if no player is listed in OP file, spawn protection is disabled, so you can break stuff. OP is there to something like a moderator or admin. I might be using wrong terms to call them that way but its a general picture.

Spawn protection radius can set in server.properties file.
Wouldn't this affect all players though? I'm the only one with the problem.

Bingo!!! GusarTranzit wins the prize.
Husband set spawn protection to 0 and added me to the OP list.
Now I want to play! THANK YOU!!!
