I used to play this Mod Pack, Better Survival. It is only up to 1.5.2. I went to play it again and made the mistake of trying to tweak stuff and when it didn't turn out right I figured I would just delete everything and start over again.
So I did. But now I cannot get this friggin mod pack to work. All the sudden when I try to use it with Magic it'll say "(modified!) 1.5.2" then I will just go ahead and play and it just load Vanilla 1.5.2. Then if I go to the MC launcher (The one released with 1.6) it'll boot it but then it takes interference from the 1.6.2 mods I also have in my folder and won't load. So I said, ok I will delete all the mods and just drop the mods from the modpack in just to see if it works at all, I load up minecraft, hope builds in me, then there is a slot interference! So I delete one of the mods to solve the interfernece, all the sudden there are duplicate enchantment ids!!!!
I don't know what the heck to do. Is there some like reason 1.5.2 stuff would not work anymore? I don't get it, this mod pack used to work, you just dropped everything right in.... Super easy. No more though. I don't get what I did to make Minecraft hate me so
Not sure I followed completely, but most mod packs are only designed to work with a certain version of minecraft. If your pack is designed for 1.5.2 you can certainly still use the mojang launcher to access it. On the lower left of the launcher window there is an edit profile option. It will bring up the profile window which you can do this from. On the bottom of that window there is an option to choose the version of minecraft to load, like 1.5.2. (If you install a something like forge using their installer, it will show up in this list as well.)
Towards the top of this window you can set a matching directory for the profile. These work similar to the instance folders used in MultiMC, and are where you will want to put your mods folders.

I actually figured it out. I had to still make a bin and modify it the old fashioned way. I basically had to do a lot of weird things but it works
