In order to keep my modded MC's orderly and what not I have always use a separate .minecraft folder for bigger mods. So in my bin I will have .minecraft, Pixelmon>.minecraft, ModPackWhatever>.minecraftIt used to always work PERFECT, but for some reason, none of the work anymore! I don't understand. It has also resulted in this problem from my Pixelmon
cosmicthing2 is completely correct. If you would like to have multiple instances of Minecraft, however, you can try using an external launcher such as MultiMC 5. If you don't want to do that, there is a handy tutorial on YouTube by a user named direwolf20. You can find his video here:
Since 1.6, the bin folder doesn't really matter anymore, the modded jar file(s) and different versions of minecraft are all in the 'versions' folder.
BEAR IN MIND though, that you do NOT need to inject mods into the jar anymore, you simply install forge and then drop every mod into the 'mods' folder in the .minecraft directory, forge will automatically search that folder for mods and install them for you.
To be honest, the only thing you really need to worry about anymore, is that mods folder, occasionally you might need to go into the config folder to change block id's or whatnot but it's alot easier than it used to be.
But then if that mod folder has mods from 1.5.2, 1.6.2, 1.6.4, and 1.7.2 will it know how to divi them up? Because I am under the impression of no. I have always used Magic Launcher so it has made it possible to use multiple .minecraft. I guess rather than multiple .minecrafts i can now have multiple mod folders or just divi stuff up in magic
