I'm a noob, okay? Nube or noob--no matter how you spell it, I am one. There, that's out of the way.
You'd think this would be simple, but I can't find WHERE to download 1.6.2!! Sorry, just had to vent for a second. Okay, WHY do I want 1.6.2? Because I want to run Mo' Creatures mod for my kiddo.
I have Windows XP, v2002, SP3 and vanilla 1.6.4, and yep, I've run it.
Plus, I already downloaded:
DrZharks MoCreatures Mod v5.2.5
minecraftforge-installer-1.6.2-9.10.1.871
CustomMobSpawner 2.3.1
GuiAPI-0.15.7-1.6.2
I just can't findwhere to download 1.6.2. Grrr. Now, from what I understand, I do need to have 1.6.4...but for Mo'Creatures, I need to replace the .jar file of 1.6.4 with the .jar file from 1.6.2.
But first things first. Can somebody please help this noob? Goin' crazy.
So to get 1.6.2:
First make sure you have a up to date launcher.
after you make sure its up to date click on new profile in the bottom left:
Then profile editor will come up. you can name it and modify it how you want, but to downgrade to 1.6.2 in version selection there is a dropdown box:
click it and you should see below 1.6.3: release 1.6.2.
click that, click save profile and play =)
Okay so... Update: in my .minecraft\versions folder, I created a 1.6.2-Mods folder, dragged in the .JAR and .JSON files from the 1.6.4 folder, and renamed them 1.6.2...hmm, wonder if I'm supposed to name them 1.6.2-Mods.json like the folder...I won't for now.
Was I supposed to do this? -> in the .minecraft folder I created a mods folder, into which I put:
CustomMobSpawner 2.3.1.zip
DrZharks MoCreatures Mod v6.0.1.zip
GuiAPI-0.15.7-1.6.2.jar
I didn't unzip the top two, nor did I do anything with the GuiAPI, other than put it in the mods folder.
BTW, I have the new launcher 1.2.5; also used minecraftforge-installer-1.6.4-9.11.1.923.jar - which I launched and ran first according to the directions I have.
I successfully created a new profile, and from the Use version drop-down, selected "release 1.6.2"
The Results
After I login an prepare to play, it only indicates "Minecraft 1.6.2" in the lower left...no indication of Mo' Creatures or anything.

Thoughts?
I'm sorry I messed up. I forgot you were installing a mod. Download this forge and install it: FORGE
Than a profile will appear called minecraft forge (version)(minecraft version)
select that profile and run. minecraft forge will download some stuff than you can try it out. =0
