I couldn't find anything on google on how to fix this problem so I'm hoping to get a response here--
I was experimenting with trying to create my own minecraft texture pack and I made the mistake of extracting the entire minecraft.jar which apparently included a file called aux.class
I'm aware now that this is an aux file is something of a "forbidden" file type in windows and i'm not allowed to mess with it; however i'd really like to get rid of the folder that I created so its not clogging up my desktop with something useless.
What exactly is happening when you try to delete it? It's not forbidden at all. It's just compiled code that minecraft uses. It shouldn't have any problems being removed from your desktop. However, it's almost guaranteed to have problems if you try to remove it from the minecraft.jar.
when I try to delete it it says:
"Cannot delete aux: access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use."
Minecraft itself works fine -- I just want to be able to delete the file because its just sitting in a folder on my desktop. The file itself is just an unzipped copy of minecraft.jar -- the original file is still where it should be in my .minecraft/bin
Thanks for the quick response by the way!
edit: all of my searches on google led me to believe that the file was forbidden by windows -- though I am honestly unsure.
try going to the file that you extracted and right clicking selecting properties and you should see a couple boxes at the bottom read only and hidden. make sure the read only is not checked then try deleting it again. if that doesnt work you can always grab a program i like to use to remove pesky files that just want to be really bothersome its called unlocker. http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/
when u install it tell it to integrate with windows. and then right click the file again and it should appear in your selections select it and choose to delete it.. if that STILL doesnt work there is another option as well. its a reg edit called ownership usually when you get that error there can be issues with you not owning the file like the error above says not accessible this will solve that issue. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/
just extract the 2 files double click them to install .. then right click and select take ownership then again try to delete the file. good luck

thanks for the response!
EDIT: success! I got it to work by using the unlocker tool on the folder instead of the file itself! thanks for the help!

yaaay glad you got it working for you.. also just for a note. unlocker does have a delete on rebbot feature as well idk if you tried that or not.. but with those tools youll never have another pesky file like that again lol. be careful with them tho.. you can even delete things that are in process and in use of other programs or rename and move them as well. you know that error. cant do this or that because the file is open in another program. yea use unlocker on the pesky thing and its fixed.
