I'm sorry if this post is redundant but I've searched High and low for a solution but every similar scenario uses fixes that are either irreverent now or impractical for my particular situation.
I'm trying to run a LAN server with the option available in pause menu. When I do it says starting LAN server on port: 63321. When I attempt to connect to this game on a different computer on the same network it says Disconnected by server: Outdated client.
Both computers are running Java SDK7 up 40.
I'm running Minecraft 1.6.2 and Forge 9.10.1.859 on both computers and the firewalls have been disabled for consistency.
Both computers are networked via Belkin Dual-Band adapters.
The host pc is one I recently built and for some reason I cant use command prompt for anything without it saying that it's not recognized as an external or internal command so that crosses a fairly large list of "fixes" off the list.
