I have 42 mods and minecraft runs out of memory every 5 or 10 minutes. I have both java 32 abd 64 bit installed but mineraft keeps using the 32 bit. How can I force it to use the 64 bit without uninstalling the 32 bit? I am using windows 8.

Not need uninstall Java 32-bit. Minecraft will use last installed version (that overwrite default links to self). So install java 32 bit (mostly for browsers) and then install Java 64-bit version. If Java will update later then make sure that 64-bit version (re-)installed last.

Go to Java.com
Click "Free Java Download"
Then if you look at the bottom of the screen it says "See all Java downloads"
Then click on "Windows Offline (64-bit)"
Install it.
And you're done!
You are able to use Java 64-bit for your browser.
