Okay, I've been trying to install FML for days, but I cannot find a manual install for it. When I tried the installer, i ran it with the Java™ Platform SE Binary, but a cmd window opened for about 6 milliseconds saying {Error: could not find or load main class -filepath of .jar- }. I tried both the JDK and JRE java.exe's but both give me this message.

So i can't use the installer at the moment and there is literaly no information on a manual install (which i prefer to do anyway reguardless), so can anyone either tell me how to fix the java platform error or how to manualy install forge myself.

I have tried putting the class files (of the universal .jar) in the custom folder in the versions folder, but to no avail, and i have put the whole .jar in a mods folder in the custom folder but also to no avail.

after watching youtube video upon youtube video (all say to use the installer) i saw that it also creates a few folders in the .minecraft: mods and config, so i figured trying to install the old way isn't going to work anymore. i also know about making a new folder in the versions folder, copying all the files from the vanilla and renaming them, renaming the id in the .json, and making a new profile with the specific .jar selected

i have windows vista (i can already hear you cringing).

I'm having this same issue. It might be because its at a very early stage

I have windows 7. I also have that problem.
(BTW; I am running java 6u45)
I cant run java 7 or minecraft lags severely.

Ok, update to java 7 and the installer will run. Also, the latest java seems to work fine for me when running mc. No more lag issues.
