I have the new patcher, but when I try to play the game I get this:
Couldn't download https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/1.6.2-mcpatcher/1.6.2-mcpatcher.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'

Gave up trying to download https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/1.6.2-mcpatcher/1.6.2-mcpatcher.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
Job 'Version & Libraries' finished with 1 failure(s)!
And when I got to minecraft.net and download the game I get a banner at the bottom of my screen that says
"The publisher of Minecraft (1).exe couldn't be verified."

That is not true, the client is looking for a non-existant file on it's server.
Hi,
This is because you are using mods, and the launcher is looking for updates to the mod, which do not exist on Mojang's servers.
To avoid this, you would have to use the default un-modded versions.
The "Publisher not verified" part is working as intentionally, as Mojang has not 'signed' the file.
I just deleted the entire minecraft folder, and redownloaded it.
