I Just started a new world in Minecraft 1.6.1 in Single player and I am recieving severe lag. In single player....
-------
-When mining blocks they respawn, and take a moment to break themselves and drop the item (sometimes they don't even break again).
-Mobs are super jumpy (while walking one place to another they don't move, but then shoot forward instead of a smooth travel).
-Mobs tend to not register being hit or have a delay in the hit registration as well as vice versa.
-dropped items take generally longer to pick up (this is likely due to registration time delays)
-Opening containers is not always instant (sometimes takes a second, generally less than, but still delayed).
-When loading chunks my game tends to get very patchy and screen freezes momentarily (this is a common occurrence with my computer likely just because it's no supercomputer, but this problem has severely increased.)

I also constantly get this message in the development console:
[SERVER] [WARNING] Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded?
All of these problems only appear to be occurring on the newly generated map, and hasn't shown any problems elsewhere. I am running on:
-Minecraft v1.6.1
-Java 7u25
-Windows 8
-The only mod installed is Mccapes v1.6.1 (runs fine without Modloader or any other similar mods)
I am getting similar lag issues when playing single player in 1.6.2. It feels like I am playing on a server with very high ping. I don't have any problems with 1.5.1, but ever since 1.5.2 minecraft has been giving me severe performance issues.
