My problem is that when I play on single player worlds, my render distance is fine and stays where I've set it in the Options Menu. I use optifine, so I usually play with Normal +32. For some reason, when I join a Server, my render distance locks itself to Short +32, as stated in the title. I get the performance drop related to the render distance I've chosen, from Tiny all the way to Extreme, but once it hits Short +32, it just refuses to load chunks beyond that.
As I said, never an issue on Single player, but it's a constant problem on servers. I've asked the owner if he's got a restriction, perhaps, (as I've heard you can do that) and while he does, he said it's much larger than Short, by a long shot.
I've got Optifine B3, installed by hand (Not mod loaded or Forge) and BWG 4 installed the same way. I've tested it without the mods installed and each installed by themselves and it's always the same problem.

Did a re-installation of Java, no luck, but I'm going to try and use Magic Launcher instead of doing everything by hand. Besides, I'll be able to stop having my own Memory Limited Batch file for it.
Will update if anything changes.
Edit: Apologies, Thank you for the suggested thread. Not much help in some areas (My minecraft doesn't crash, for instance) but I'm following the suggested steps.
Edit Edit: No change after using Magic Launcher to launch Minecraft.

I have a similar issue, although this does happen for me while on SSP worlds. I'm using OptiFine Ultra D3 for 1.5.2. Render distance for me will not load beyond Short +32. I've tried searching for similar issues, but no avail. Settings have been changed multiple times in many areas and it bothers me something awful.

Tried it, no luck. Although I finally found out why V-Sync was always on for some reason.
Still, locked at Short +32 on servers.
