I am certainly no computer wizard, I can hardly tell a .jar file from a .zip file. The texture pack I wish to use (Misa Realistic) requires MC Patcher so the textures are properly rendered. I understand how to use MC Patcher for vanilla MC, however I am using MC Forge for a couple mods. I've tried adjusting the original files and output files with varying success; either nothing happened or MC crashed a millisecond after I pressed play.
Is it even possible to run both? If MC Patcher adjusts the .jar file of vanilla, couldn't it adjust the already adjusted .jar with Forge?
MCPatcher changes some of the same files Forge changes, And doesn't always work nicely with forge. Think about switching to Optifine, as Optifine should usually work nicely with Forge.
Also Texture packs up to at least 64x are natively supported by Forge itself and don't need optifine/MCPatcher, if you don't need additional stuff like random mobs etc...
Hmm, I attempted to download Optifine, following the manual instruction (I've been using Magic launcher in the past, but with 1.6.2 it has been beyond tempermental, so I give up on it) but I cannot seem to alter the Forge .jar file, it says a program is currently using it. For Magic Launcher I switched back to default settings and for vanilla launcher used my regular login file, but it still will not allow me to alter it. Any help for that, friend?

The instruction says to delete the META.Inf file in the Forge .jar file, but whenever I do so it says I cannot due to it being used by another process, I guess that means a program is currently using the Forge file... which confuses me, since I have no programs like that open, but anyway...

Try opening up your windows task manager (by hitting ctrl-alt-delete at the same time), going to the processes tab, then looking for any "java.exe" or "javaw.exe" processes. If you see any, click on it, then hit the "end process" button (Be sure you close minecraft if its open while doing this, if you do this with minecraft open, itll might end it without saving your game). After they are no "java.exe" or "javaw.exe" processes left, now try deleting the META.INF folder. Hope this helps!

Hey, it worked! Everything's working now, problem solved, thanks a lot!

(sorry for length, how do you make it a spoiler type thing?) Using the texture pack I am now is crashing it, but even with default texture it is incredibly slow.
