I can't open my minecraft jar. I tried adding in a mod yesterday and since I don't what I'm doing I looked up a tutorial to help me. I exited out of my minecraft jar when I finished and went into my Miencraft, but the mod still wasn't there. So when I went back to open my minecraft.jar it said, " a java exception has occured". Now I don't know what to do. Help please?
Make sure you delete META-INF from your minecraft.jar
You also have to have Mod Loader 1.5.1 installed. Just google it, it will help
You can open your minecraft.jar with programs as WinRAR, WinZIP, 7Zip
I would make sure that the META-INF is deleted if I could actually open my minecraft.jar, which I can't do. Every time I try and open it it says "a Java exception has occurred" and I don't know what that means.

most mods now only need to have their zip file put into the mods folder , and then you put modloader or forge (never both) into the minecraft.jar.
with forge you don't delete the meta-inf folder, just copy the forge files, then delete the files inside the meta-inf folder that have mojang in their name
You could look at using multimc, it does all the work for you

Instead of modding your jar file like that. It is easier to download Minecraft Launcher and use it to run you Minecraft, as well as easily install various mods.
Just download it and run it. Before hitting login though, hit the Setup button. It will take you to another screen to easily add whatever mods you would like to use just by hitting the ADD button.

You need to right click on the minecraft.jar and click open with > than click "Open With WinRAR".
Just download it and run it. Before hitting login though, hit the Setup button. It will take you to another screen to easily add whatever mods you would like to use just by hitting the ADD button.
