I've tried to find time to even play this game and each time that I do, I want to install a mod. The vanilla game just seems too basic for my tastes. I follow the instructions for ANY mod very carefully. They never work. Its not that Minecraft wont boot or anything, but the mods really don't work. To make matters worse now we have 1.6.2 (which I'm currently running) and that switched things around or something.
I followed all the instructions and none of the recipes work. Now I have three folders in the versions folder:
1.6.2
1.6.2-mcpatcher
1.6.2ML
And I'll admit, I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing anymore. Thanks to all of the instructions I followed so closely. Call me stupid all you want but please give me some advice while doing it. Should I start over and delete all those folders and force an update? I just don't understand why installing mods is so easy yet it never seems to work. There must be something I'm missing OR something that is just assumed that I'm supposed to do, but did not do because no one ever told me to do it.
