I am really into modding, but I sucks that to start anew with your mods you have to force update, uninstall everything, etc.
But,I do know its possible to have multiple minecraft folders, but I can't seem to rename it ".minecraft" my pc just says, please type a file name. Please reply!
P.S. I'm running windows XP.
If the issue is that your computer is refusing to create the folder due to the " . " then you will have to use cmd command lines to create the folder in the correct location (or on desktop and drag and drop).
Or the easiest way, copy your .minecraft from your %appdata% and paste it in a new folder.
Either way, i use a batch file to force minecraft to load to each separate minecraft i have. Atm i have vanilla(up to date) and Minecraft 1.1 with atleast 65 mods. The batch file needs to force load from the folder of your new minecraft folder, not the one in your roaming. I believe if you do not do this, then when you boot up minecraft from that new folder, it will still run from Appdata, and not the new place. I could be wrong, as i havent ed around with the new GUI.
