Other thread was dead, didn't want to get too many posts from bumps; never got an answer
Hello forum goers:
I have a PC that is (almost) brand new. It just came a week ago. The performance in every game I've played has been amazing, including Minecraft. Well, it was amazing in Minecraft until I installed SEUS. Now, without a doubt I KNOW I should be able to run it at at LEAST 50 FPS. I base this claim on the fact that I saw an older computer from this same brand with lower specs run it at 40-45 FPS. Somehow, this computer clocks in at a max of 22 FPS and a low of 4 FPS. In normal MC, it locks instantly at 60 FPS, and, I know I shouldn't compare this to another regular game, but I easily pull off 60 FPS in TES V: Skyrim and Fallout 3 with Ultra settings and high-res texture packs. How is it possible to achieve such amazing performance all over the board and then fail miserably at a mere shaders mod? I've even allocated 6 GB of RAM to Java. I am also playing MC in Full-Screen Mode w/ Optifine. Help explain/fix this please.
SPECS:
OS.....................64-Bit Windows 7 Home Premium
Processor..........4th Gen i7 Quad-Core 4800MQ @2.7 (Regular) \ 3.7 (TurboBoost) GHz
GPU..................NVIDIA GTX 765M w/ 2 GB of usable VRAM
RAM..................16 GB (15.7 usable)
Display...............1920 x 1080p Full HD Resolution @60hz refresh rate
Java..................64-Bit Java 7 Update 25
MC Version.......1.5.2 (no other mods)
SEUS Version...SEUS v10 RC7 Ultra
GLSL Version....GLSL-Shaders-1.5.2
Make sure this is the case. My integrated card maxes at around 120 vanilla. 660ti maxes out at 400. Never benchmarked SEUS.
I don't have a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz, so I wouldn't know just how high I could go. But like I said, I am absolutely positive my dedicated card could run at MUCH higher than 10-20 FPS.
It may just be an issue with how the mod was coded. For example I have a fairly good graphics card in my desktop, yet I still get lag and performance issues from certain games because their engine is old and clunky and poorly coded. Also I don't advise allocating 6Gb of RAM to your Minecraft client. Java is a memory hog and often doesn't manage and use memory efficiently. 1-2 Gb of allocated RAM to your Minecraft client should be enough.

I see. And out of my 16 GB of RAM, I set my Java parameters to use 8 ... If that is not enough, how much would be? Or, is it even using it (would I have to create a .bat file specifically for Minecraft)?

It probably will never use 8, but i have mine set to 1.5 gigs. I would imagine you'd want to put yours at about the same, maybe even 2 gigs. You can create a .bat file for simplicity, there is a guide somewhere around here. I can find it for you if you'd like.

I see. I will set it down. And if a .bat is not necessary, I will stick to modifying my Java parameters. Thank you anyhow, though. Is the low FPS really normal? Is my card that bad (just to restate, it is a GTX 765M w/ 2 GB of dedicated VRAM)?
And, if it helps any, I'm using Magic Launcher. I've also noticed that although I've allocated 8 GB to Java via the control panel, Magic Launcher says there is only 495 MB available, and Minecraft is only using 58% of it.

Curse PremiumI am positive. I have checked and double checked many times.

Retired StaffAlmost all of the support staff are volunteers.
Did you try allocating more RAM?
Oh, alright. Thank you for your response.
