So, currently I'm using the new Launcher (version 1.2.1) and I'm trying to play 1.5.2 modded.
The thing is that, I can play 1.5.2 non-modded, 1.6.2 non-modded, 1.6.2 modded (having each of them a unique folder, within the 'versions' Folder, within .minecraft); all of these work just fine.
The problem comes when I try to play 1.5.2 modded. I thought it would be some mod out of date or not having the correct version...but no. I tried it with only ModLoader, and it was in the correct version for that .jar (1.5.2) and it doesn't seem to work for some reason. When I start up my Profile for Minecraft 1.5.2 Modded (which is associated with the 1.5.2_Modded Folder where it has the 1.5.2 modded .jar file) it launches Minecraft until the "Mojang" screen, then freezes for a bit and it crashes, showing the "crash window".
