Mods appear to install correctly in 1.6.2, both manually and with magic launcher, but do not work and do not seem present at all. Following directions to the letter with each mod developer. Using latest versions of both forge and/or modloader, as well as latest versions of several different mods including galacticraft, gravitycraft + mineup, gulivermod, smartmoving. Happens exactly the same on two different machines, one with Windows 7 and one with Vista. Starting with a clean install of Minecraft each time, different versions of mods over time, using the right profile, deleting META-INF file, etc.
Nothing appears to break, but when Minecraft launches it is as if there is simply no mod present at all no matter which mod or combinations of mods I try. Minecraft works like nothing happened. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

I haven't done that in 2 years.
