We are new at modding Minecraft. On Windows 7, we deleted the .minecraft directory, then ran the latest mindcraft.exe. After we logged in, it downloaded what we assume is a clean version of 1.6.2. We put a copy of the old save directory into the clean .minecraft. When we ran Minecraft, everything seemed to work properly.
We then downloaded minecraftforge-installer-1.6.2-9.10.0.804, double-clicked on it, and selected "client". It reported it had successfully set up a "Forge" profile. We ran Minecraft under our original profile and it still seemed to be working properly. We quit Minecraft.
We created a "mods" directory under .minecraft, and moved Galacticraft-Mod-1.6.2 and MicdoodleCore-1.6.2-a0.1.38.531 into it. We restarted Minecraft and ran it under the "Forge" profile and it prompted to load the basic mods, which we selected. We were prompted to restart Minecraft to use the mods. We quit Minecraft.
We restarted Minecraft and it ran fine under our original profile. We restarted it again using the "Forge" profile and it began loading the terrain and crashed. Here is part of the crash report (there is another full page of data if that would be helpful):

We then downloaded minecraftforge-installer-1.6.2-9.10.0.804, double-clicked on it, and selected "client". It reported it had successfully set up a "Forge" profile. We ran Minecraft under our original profile and it still seemed to be working properly. We quit Minecraft.
We created a "mods" directory under .minecraft, and moved Galacticraft-Mod-1.6.2 and MicdoodleCore-1.6.2-a0.1.38.531 into it. We restarted Minecraft and ran it under the "Forge" profile and it prompted to load the basic mods, which we selected. We were prompted to restart Minecraft to use the mods. We quit Minecraft.
We restarted Minecraft and it ran fine under our original profile. We restarted it again using the "Forge" profile and it began loading the terrain and crashed. Here is part of the crash report (there is another full page of data if that would be helpful):
