I've mannaged to get forge running to some extent. I know it can find the mods iI placed n the mod folder, but for some reason it wont use them and they won't show up in the mods list in the main menu. I've also mannaged to get tmi working by using a jar. version and dropping it into the mods folder. It wouldn't work in a winrar zip format. When I tried the zip format, I could see forge unpacked it to the development console.

I've tried using other mods in both zip and jar. format, but it either ends up in a crash or the mod is not listed in the forge mods list in the minecraft main menu. TMI is the only mod I've got running.

First of all, you shouldn't have any problems if you installed forge correctly. What version are you using?

I'm using the recomended 9.10.0.789 version. I had problems with the versions before it and since I couldn't get anything to work until tmi, I assumed it was broken. I also installed forge the way that included: 1. making another folder in the versions folder 2. copying the forg jar and json into the folder 3. naming them both the same thing as the folder you put them into 4. changing the id in the json from "forge version" to the name of your new folder and jar&json. I've been trying to add the universal electricity mod and icbm my client. Maybe there's something else I should be doing exclusively for those mods.

I wanted to see if I wasn't installing the mods I wanted to install correctly so I picked a random mod that uses forge (fireplaces) and dropped it into the mods folder. It completely worked the way it was supposed to. I now believe I've been impropperly installing Icbm and the universal electricity mod.

If anyone can give me a thorough tutorial or description on how to install these it would be much appreciated.
