(I've posted this in a different forum but I've been informed to repost it here to better suit my needs)
Hey there, I'm brand new to the forums but I've had a problem involving sand falling from a specific elevation in my Minecraft Creative world for well over 4 months.... So here I go:
I've built a floating platform in the sky above a mountain in a extreme hills biome, and since I started to build the map I built the platform larger and larger (Which now takes up more than one map now). Several months back I downloaded some mods, including MCEdit, TooManyItems, and Rei's Minimap. I downloaded these in hopes of easily managing and progressing upon the map I worked so hard to build. But, not knowing that my computer flips the with ANY ONE of these mods installed I quickly reverted back to Vanilla and went on my way. Since then I have seen sand on random places on my platform-city-type... thing, and have even witnessed the sand generating and falling from a specific elevation. To date, an entire area twice the size of the shadow my platform casts on the surface has been covered in sand, turning the once green mountain into a big pile of sand. Not only does this make the land below look ugly as well as the areas of the platform below the sand-falling-elevation, it also disrupts the overall plot of the map I created and has proven difficult to cope with. To go into more detail about what I may think is the root of the issue, during the time I had TooManyItems installed I placed a wide area torch spawner in the exact middle of the map (The precise point where I built the rest of the map around) so I could easily distribute light to areas of the platform relative to the center. I fear that once I deleted the mod, the spawner, instead of reverting to a pig spawner, turned into some sort of strange invisible sand spawner. In addition, the exact elevation where the sand is spawning I placed several command blocks prior to the problem occurring, which are used to transport players to a seperate platform where PVP battles take place. Two way transportation is used between this area and the PVP platform.
I have tried to narrow down the problem to a multitude of things, and by saving my world to an SD card and playing it on a separate computer with a different Minecraft client I have come to the conclusion that the problem is the map itself. So I can only assume I've missed a block that spawns SOMETHING that was altered when I deleted TooManyItems, or that the problem is extremely more technical hidden deep within the digital code of the data used in the save file of the map itself, the likes of which I can't comprehend.
I just wanted to know if there was any chance anyone else has encountered this problem before and have found any sort of solution, or if anyone knows what I can do to find this strange "Sand spawning block" and break it, resulting in the sand to stop spawning. The amount of sand gathered on a block is random, and increases with time so I need a solution QUICK. Like I said, I'm new to the forums and Minecraft in general so if you believe this isn't the place to find a quick-fix to my problem please, kindly direct me to a place better suited for my dilemma. I can only hope the problem isn't too technical, but if anyone wants to analyze the world further I'd be glad to attach the save file in an email and have you do as you wish. Thank you very much, I need to find a solution soon.
