So, I've got Ubuntu Linux. I was having some issues with Minecraft, in which every so often my computer would freeze up. This was not only a Minecraft problem, it did it when watching a video on Youtube as well, so I assumed it was the graphics driver. I never had any real stalling issues, or any others, for that matter. Freezing was quite rare at first, but happened more and more over the past few months.
Well, I don't recall the driver that was installed, but it came with the operating system, so I'd assume it was a generic. I went to Nvidia and downloaded the driver for the card I have. It was a real pain to install the stupid thing, and once I did, I tried out Minecraft...
I can't go to fullscreen. I hit F11, and it jumps like it's about to work, the screen turns black for a second just like normal, then flashes again, and the screen was just as it was with Minecraft windowed.
I can play the game, but the FPS is horrible. It's slow almost all the time, jumps to a good fps for about ten seconds, then goes back to slow. Also, my keyboard keys seem to keep sticking, and there is a slight delay whenever I do anything, making fighting oh so much more fun....
I remember most of the fps stuff went away on my old computer whenever I went into fullscreen. I'm hoping the same thing will happen. I could REALLY use some help. The game is barely playable now. It's not fun.
If it matters, I'm running MultiMC with a bunch of mods. I've tried a vanilla client, unmodded with the same exact result.
Never mind. I got around it. MultiMC has a Compatibility setting. It worked like a charm.
