What in the world is going on here? I have played multiple servers and this problem is still occuring. Is it a glitch? Sometimes it happens and sometimes not... This is what it looks like:
This happened on my Ubuntu distro in singleplayer. The mobs were all messed up. If I had to guess, I'd say it's either your graphics driver or Java. Try updating both and see what happens then. If that doesn't work, and neither does a force update to MC, I have no clue. Strange, to say the least.
Just making sure about the graphics drivers. You never know, lol.
Ahhh, so you are in Ubuntu. To be honest, I've never figured out the fix for Minecraft in it. But I've been using OpenJDK through all my troubleshooting, so if you just try regular Java, maybe it'll work. And does this bug only happen when you're playing multiplayer? Just curious because I might have a theory...
Anywho, unfortunately, the regular sudo apt-get update won't work for Java. =/
This site has tons of info on downloading and installing all sorts of Java and OpenJDK versions, though. It seems to walk you through it very well, too.

So I have Oracle Java 7, and also OpenJDK Java 7 installed. I use the latter to launch minecraft...(OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime) so what do you mean by "regular java"?
I'm also known as TANNAR in some places.
Have you tried updating your Java yet?

Yes, and how would I do that on ubuntu? sudo apt-get update ?

Hopefully you can get it fixed!
