My minecraft is currently updated to 1.5.2 build and hardly has any mods. Those are the Aether2 mod (along with Forge Modloader) and Too Many Items. All three worked perfectly well prior to whatever happened to my world. I wasn't using any particular mod functions prior to the 'incident', nor was I doing anything that, to my knowledge, could cause problems. To be specific, I'd just added an enchanting table and a few bookshelves to my library in my house. My laptop was getting rather hot (as it does) so I switched minecraft off for a while and occupied myself on the internet. When I turned minecraft back on, my world wouldn't load. Whenever I try to load it, it shows the "loading world" screen for a second or two before going back to the title screen. When I try and load it again, the game stops responding. I've tried creating new worlds and then loading them with no problems. I haven't added any new files or done anything with my .minecraft folder since the world worked. I've tried restarting minecraft, running as administrator, and restarting my computer.
I'd greatly appreciate any help that could be offered. Thanks in advance for helping, or just for taking the time to read this
i think the aether mod tries to generate an "aether" in your world
that is impossible because the world is already generated, it only works for new worlds.
So sorry, i can't help you
I'm not sure how relevant this is to either or both of your quotes, but I'd already played with the mods installed. So, I reinstalled minecraft to make sure it was a clean game, installed all of the mods currently active, then started playing. It's been a few weeks since I installed the Aether mod and it seemed to be working fine (not that I'd actually gotten around to going there, but it wasn't causing any problems with my game). I played for a while, installed Too Many Items, played for a while more, and then all of this happened. I'm not sure how well I got this across in the original post, but what I was trying to say is I hadn't installed anything immediately before it stopped working, and all of my mods seemed to be behaving fine. The game crashing as it has just seemed to come out of the blue when I tried to load my world
Then you got lucky, but if you are really playing with mc 1.5.2 you are using an unsupported version for the Aether II mod. Additionally Aether II is in alpha stage, so bugs are expected to happen, even if using the right versions of everything.
Additionally we can't say more without you providing more info.
Go read up on the Aether II mod for the correct installation and requirements and the following threads to get us more information for helping you: http://www.minecraft...o-ask-for-help/ http://www.minecraft...sh-reports-101/
Everything else would only be a guessing game, and I don't feel like guessing your problem...
Okey dokey, thanks for your help, first of all, I certainly don't want to put you out any more than is necessary/you're willing to go.
Following the second link I found the crash report, and it seems to be what he refers to as "the dreaded null-pointer exception". Would this be the result of the Aether only being compatible with 1.5.1? If that's the case I don't mind removing it, it'd just be nice to know if there was anything I could do, either to fix it or save the world at least so I don't lose the save entirely.
But I'm not an expert, and while being a bummer, if there's nothing that can be done, then there's nothing that can be done.
