I started up a local server about a week ago in order to be able to use bukkit mods.
It was running great at first, but this morning when I logged in, I noticed the nether portal I'd built had disappeared, and the wall I'd carved it out of had gone back to the way it was a couple days previous.
No big deal...rebuilt it and kept playing, logged out for a couple hours, then logged back in.
Had a marathon gaming session for many hours, finishing off a huge storage room, logged out.
When I logged back in just now the entire day's progress was just...gone. It had reverted back to the way the world had looked yesterday.
Does anyone know what might be happening here? Is there any way to recover all that hard work?
I'm using a new gaming pc that has handled minecraft fine on high settings up until today...though I did notice that, without having installed any new mods today, the fps had gradually dropped from 50 to 30ish, and sometimes mobs were glitching out by appearing halfway through ground blocks instead of on the surface.
I realise it's probably related to lag and intend to turn the settings down, but is anyone able to shed some light on what else might be happening here? Why hasn't the game saved?
Do I really have to rebuild that monstrous storage building all over again? :/
And is this game-not-saving thing likely to keep happening?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
PS: In case it's relevant, I'm using minecraft version 1.5.2 with bukkit; mods installed are Optifine, mcmmo and SafeCreeper, and was using the Sphax PureBDCraft texture pack at the time.
Make sure you've entered save-on via the console and are stopping the server by issuing stop to the console, not just closing the window. You could also issue save-all before closing it which will force-save the world.

Thanks in advance!
(tl;dr: Game won't save! Am sad! Why?!)
Stu
It'd been that long since I'd done this, I'd completely forgotten you were meant to type 'stop'.
Haha...thanks for that.
