A while ago i tried to make my Minecraft modifiable, however it didn't work and now i can't use texture packs because the folder won't open, i can't mod anything and i can't uninstall or re-install the game. I use Windows 7 (on a mac, but it doesn't matter if it's on a mac) and the .minecraft file no longer exists, yet i can still play the game. I've tried to delete it properly but the files were already gone but i could still play the game, i tried re-installing but the files didn't show up again. I have no idea how to fix this, could anybody offer a method of fixing this?
Are you really sure? Try instead typing "%appdata%/.minecraft/" into the Run dialog. It's more than likely that it's still there, you just can't find it.
here, I have a method: open the launcher and click options. then go under force update ad click the link. explore around a little and tell us what you see.
