How do you install mods on the new minecraft launcher (0.9.5 Dev). Before you just had to put the files in the minecraft.jar file, but now it doesnt work. Please help me out here people of the MC Forums!

easy. update to 13w24a and install a Resource Pack. Resource Packs are a new way of modding.

Im an insult to Etho and Mindcrack, yet I am a fan of it
I am modding for 1.5.2 on the new launcher and there aren't any resource packs or .jar or .json files so what do I do? (I am trying not to mess up my regular minecraft).
(edit)
Nevermind you create a new folder and you copy a .json file from the version (of MC) that you are using read the tutorial here: http://www.punchwood.com/index.php?/topic/15760-tutorial-how-to-play-a-modded-minecraft-in-new-launcher/ and follow what it says. Copy the modded jar into the folder (dont forget to rename the .jar and .json). Then create a new profile with the directory of the modded .jar.
Hope you understand .

AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\versions
Pick the version folder you want and change the jar inside.

Retired Staff1.5.2 doesn't support resource packs, regardless of the launcher. You have to use 13w24a and above for it to appear.
