Hey guys
Lately I've been having an issue where if I resize my minecraft client, it freezes up my computer completely.
It happens when I:
- go into fullscreen mode
- hit the resize window icon
- manually resize the window too fast
I'm running a 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display
2.6GHz i7 Processor
16GB ram
512gb Flash Storage
Minecraft 1.4.5
MagicLauncher Version 1.0.0 Optifine 1.4.4 (might be the problem right there, however still crashes in vanilla)
Optifine 1.4.5 (issue still exists)
Sphax 64px
Java Version 7 Update 10
Mac OS X 10.8.2
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this would be happening?
The game runs fine when I leave it in the default window setting. In fact I was getting 100-180fps earlier today so it seems to be running really nicely.
I'm having the same issue with Feed The Beast DireWolf20 pack & Optifine (tried without as well). Has anyone found a solution? I'm also on a 2.6ghz I7 retina 15".
Same problem here (15" MBP running 10.8.2). I get it on an attached monitor as well as on the retina display. If I resize the window in many small steps it usually doesn't freeze, but it's a PITA to do it that way. I've also had a similar problem in another Java gui program as well, so I'm pretty sure it's a java issue and not minecraft specifically.

I get this problem in Snow Leopard on my 2008 Mac Pro but only for the 1.6 snapshot usually. However, it just happened for the first time in 1.5.2R. I'm using Java 1.6. It's a GPU problem. My GPU (ATI 2600) freezes when I resize the window in the snapshot. There's probably a way to reset it, but I just restart.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the game eats up all the VRAM when you resize the window. Very stupid problem.
Whenever I try to resize my game window, my whole computer crashes and I have to restart it. I can go in and out of fullscreen by pressing F11 easily, but it's kind of annoying to only have 2 options of window size.
I'm running Minecraft 1.8 on a 17" 2006 MacBook Pro on OS X Lion 10.7.5, with Java Version 8 Update 31 (build 1.8.0_31-b13).

I've been playing around a bit and from what I can tell it seems like 10.8.2 might be the problem considering this problem did not exist in 10.8.0/1

Thanks, Mark.

I'm running Java 6. I didn't think Java 7 could run Minecraft on OSX. I'm hesitant to try 7 for fear I won't be able to get 6 back should it not work.
- Mark.
EDIT: Tried local install of jre7 and indeed, FTB does not work with jre7 on osx.
I'm running java 1.6.0_37.
