Haha, this is definatly the most crazy issue I've had in minecraft, but I was playing around with a mob spawner I was making and I decided to fly over to where my house is and I noticed a huge chunk of the walkway was green!
I went over it and f3'd and it was.. Forest. Normally my surrounding biomes are desert and beach, so this struck me as odd. I dug under it and it was as if the entire chunk just reloaded itself.
The weird thing is this happened before but I never noticed it because it happened so far away and it was sunk into the ground, so I just figured it was dirt in the desert that grew grass from the adjacent jungle.
But this is about 5-6 blocks above Sea level complete with a little tree...
Now, thank goodness it did pretty much no damage. Almost eeeeverything around it are very sensitive factories and things which I have put a lot of work into (Which is why im scared of this bug) and the only thing it took out was my temporary Netherwart farm. No biggy, I have more.
But still, I'd like to know what's up.

in 1.2 notch made some kind of edit that changed the whole world generating system and called it anvil. if you load a world that was created before 1.2 when you load it, it says "converting to anvil". it made some weird glitches to enviroment for those worlds. but if you created the world after 1.2 and it still glitches then i dont know if i can help you
