The title itself explains everything, but I'll dive into more detail.

I've recently gotten a macbook. Not a macbook pro, but a white one with rounded corners.

Computer specs:

OS X Version : 10.8.3

Processor : 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

2GB of RAM, and sometimes I play with an external hard drive

It's a really good laptop. I average around 60-70 frames on a default world and 90-100 on superflat.

I can install any other mod just fine - even shaders!

It's Optifine that has issues. Any version, ultra, normal, light, will drop my frames to rock bottom ZERO and cause the game to freeze.

And just yesterday, the game began having issues.

I did not have any mods installed!

I loaded one of my singleplayer worlds (experimenting with redstone - ABSOLUTELY NO TNT OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE LAG).

I played in the world for a few minutes, but after that random lag spikes appeared.

It's really annoying, as Minecraft is one of my favorite games. Note that the lag spikes appeared yesterday, but Optifine lag has always been there.
