I recently installed optifine for minecraft 1.5.1 and it doesn't work. it would freeze right after 3 seconds of loading the world. I tried everything!!!!!!
Hi dude, I have this exact problem, what we might need is a new minecraft.jar with optifine installed but some one else makes it, if any one with optifine installed then send a link to download it for us. thank you.
Well I suggest using MultiMC ( http://forkk.net/MultiMC4/ ). It really makes modding easier. Download it, download MC 1.5.1, login into the client, close it, right click the instance, click 'Edit Mods', under the minecraft.jar tab, click the 'Add' button to add Optifine to minecraft.jar, close the windows, right click the instance again, click 'View Folder', navigate to minecraft/bin/minecraft.jar, open it with an archiving program, and delete META-INF. After you do that, run the instance and log in. Optifine should be successfully installed. Installing Optifine otherwise should of been flawless and very simple. I don't see why you guys are having trouble, even a mob newbie could do it. Here is the instance/client in MultiMC that I use and how it is setup: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sharing the minecraft.jar file is a big no-no but you can google for a fresh copy if you forgot to back yours up. I've found things like MCPatcher and MagicLoader don't always install the mods correctly, which is why I tend to do mine manually.
Browse to the folder that contains your minecraft.exe launcher
With no files selected (left click on background to deselect), Shift+Right Click anywhere in background of the window, and choose "Open command window here"
Forge is not required for Optifine... though Optifine and Forge are compatible

Have you tried this (This is for windows, you can get Mac instructions here:http://www.minecraft...i/Crash#Mac_OSX):
- Browse to the folder that contains your minecraft.exe launcher
- With no files selected (left click on background to deselect), Shift+Right Click anywhere in background of the window, and choose "Open command window here"
- Copy the following code:
"%ProgramFiles%/Java/jre7/bin/java" -Xms1G -Xmx1G -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
- Right click in the command window, select Paste and then press enter
- Login, start Single or Multiplayer and reproduce the crash
- Once you have obtained the crash report, right click on it, select all and press Enter to copy, then paste it to the proper mod thread for assistance
If you post the error log back here enclose it in the following tags:[code][spoiler][code] Error Log [/code][/spoiler]
[/CODE]
