I reccently downloaded the Ultimate Realism (Light) texture pack, and I'm trying to get it to render. The texture pack is x512, which is pretty big. When I try to use it, MC crashes. I then downloaded MC patcher. First I patched it with the preloaded settings by themselves, didn't work. Next I tried patching with just Optifine, didn't work. Lastly, I tried patching both at the same time. Still nothing. After each time, while starting MC again, the MOJANG logo appears in the style of the texture pack, but stops responding soon after and black screens. I think I need to give MC more RAM to use, but I can't get it to work. I've tried saving a notepad document with the Xms stuff as a .bat file, but when I click on it it says something along the lines of "javaw is not a valid file".
My specs are:
10GB Ram
AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeomâ„¢ Graphics (4CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Running Win8 64-Bit
Minecraft has 989MB of allocated memory. With the default texture pack and standing still, it uses about 45% - 50% of it.
Can you help?
