After trying to download the twilight forest mod my Minecraft opens up asking if I want to update if I say yes I get the fatal error 4 message. I have:

uninstalled minecraft
Uninstalled java
reinstalled both
deleted my bin file
uninstalled my antivirus
I do not have a firewall up

Looking through the huge amount of info it seems like these should work.

Any other ideas that do not require a computer degree?

Also - any concern that this is mal-ware? I can't find that mod anywhere on my computer - it doesn't work in minecraft.

Because that was exactly what 80% of the comments on this error named as the problem. I will of course re install it once I get everything working. But thanks for the commentary on my intelligence. I've been unable to function all these years without knowing that

Back to the first things: No Twilight forest did not install properly it just dropped off.

After following all the myriad of suggestions out there - now minecraft will not load at all.

Where does someone as stupid as I find the error reports? Remembering of course that I cannot open minecraft at this time.

Looked into that I'm missing all kinds of files based on what I saw on tutorials there.

How do I just wipe the thing clean and start over?

Just wanted to come back and say thanks for the time. I ended up deleting everything and dropping the .minecraft file from my other computer into this one. I did save my "save" files and was able to insert them in after the fix. Everything is working fine now.
