I followed a tutorial to install the fossil archaelogy mod for my daughter. Now the game fails to load. It says updating Minecraft done loading.

So I tried removing the jar file and still no luck.

I have been attempting to get this fixed now for several hours. I considered a complete uninstall/reinstall but I don't want to possibly lose my daughters creations etc.

Below are the instructions and links I followed:

How To Install ModLoader
1.Download and install the .ZIP
2.Open up %appdata%, Just start>run, then type in %appdata%
3.Browse to .minecraft/bin
4.Open your Minecraft.jar with Winrar or 7Zip.
5.Then Delete META-INF
6.Drag and Drop the necessary files into the jar.
7.Run your Minecraft.
8.Let’s Enjoy!!!

How to Install Minecraft Forge API Mod
1.Download along with mount Minecraft Forge regarding minecraft model
2.Search in order to %appdata%/roaming/. minecraft/bin along with wide open your minecraft.jar with winrar.
3.Open the downloaded minecraft forge zip file.
4.Pull the actual articles with the minecraft forge zip file in to your minecraft.jar.
5.Completed, launch minecraft.

How to Install AudioMod
1.Download AudioMod and ModLoader
2.Open up %appdata%
3.Browse to .minecraft/bin
4.Open up minecraft.jar with WinRAR or 7zip.
5.Drag and drop the necessary files into the jar.
6.Delete the META-INF folder in the jar.
7.Run Minecraft
8.Let’s Fun!

1.Download ModLoader, Minecraft Forge API Mod and AudioMod
2.Install ModLoader and AudioMod
3.Download Fossil Archeology Mod!
4.Delete META INF
5.Drag the files into .minecraft
6.Enjoy and play!

At the moment she can't play the game at all. Thanks in advance for any help to resovle this.

Yes, thank you. I restored to a previous version of the jar file and now she is up and running.

My daughter really wants to add this mod. How long before it is updated to work with 1.5?

next time try making mulitply directories of minecraft and run them with batch files, that way you have a "modded" and a "safe" version, also if you where going to delete the .minecraft, you would save the saves, texture packs, server.dat, and stat files. Ps if you want to try some other mods try the technic launcher, automod pack installing. You might also want to try the mo creatures mod (tons of new mobs) and/or biome o plenty (over 60 new biomes)
