I mean, it completely obliterates it. There isn't even a "MineCraft has crashed! :(" message. The whole thing just dies. It crashes when it gets to "building terrain," as I try to open a world. I have the latest versions of Forge, OptiFine, and Java, all re-installed since the problem started, and I'm running 1.4.7. Also, I launch mods using Magic Launcher, if that makes any difference. I have verified that it is optifine and optifine alone causing the problem, by running only it and forge. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, I have had problems with it, although not similar to these. When i have it downloaded on my minecraft, a lot of things happen. It is pretty buggy, and I do have a lot of mods, but it has happened to me using my 2 different modpacks (in which the first one I got rid of because I think optifine did that as well), and some of the problems i encounter are: Animals shifting into blocks/ immediate slowness out of no where/ random crashes (may have been some mods not playing nice)/ and eventually corruption of worlds. However, none of this happens on servers. When I got rid of optifine, and got a new personal modpack, havnt been experiencing anything like it until I grabbed optifine for a second try and the first two bugs happened again. I've also heard that optifine has been breaking stuff from other people. If you probably want to keep your singleplayer worlds, get rid of optifine though, however, if you are mainly a multiplayer person, optifine is a thumbs up.
It depends on what version of Optifine that you are using. If you are using Optfine Light, it is not compatble with Forge. If you are using Optfine Standard or Ultra, then those should work with Forge together.
