my 8 yearold son has fallen in love with minecraft and i am not very computer literate. currently minecraft works properly. my son wanted a mod installed. i did the research and it wasnt fun. i think i messed things up. i followed all the steps. did everything precisely as directed and the goll darn thing still doesnt work. i loaded forge and AIRI. to make matters worse, i cant pull up my .minecraft folder in the search box.
i cant find it by typing in .minecraft or &appsdata%.... i can however find it by typing %appdata%\.minecraft\ so i went out and bought another minecraft game thinking that might solve the problem and that didnt work either. i really want to start with a clean slate and have a .minecraft folder again. it would be great to get the alien vs predator mod loaded for my son. who can help?
Well i guess i will tell you everything:
Steps to do:
1.Its not &appsdata%, its %appdata% and one you are there, you click roaming. .minecraft should be first on the list. Delete it (Since it is not clean) 2.Go to https://minecraft.net/download and download the game for your system 3.Double click the shortcut to MineCraft and a screen should open. Log in over there and all the files will start downloading
(At this point you have a clean version of minecraft)
4.Go to http://files.minecraftforge.net/ and get the newest universal
5.open it with 7zip or WinRAR and keep it open.
6.now go to .minecraft (from step 1) and click bin. Open minecraft.jar in that file using 7zip or WinRAR.
7.Delete the META file in minecraft.jar. Then go back to the Forge file and drag everything from there to the Minecraft.jar file.
8.Run Minecraft and forge should work.
9.Now, go back to the .minecraft file. there should be a folder called mods. Download your mod and drag the file into the Mods folder(Dont open the mod file, with 7zip or WinRAR, keep it closed)
10.Now open minecraft. your mod should work!
-Hope i helped :D-
