I have wondered something ever since I got my MineCraft account. How do you use mods? Please post a walk through on how I may use mods.

Most youtube tutorials work. Are you using the wrong versions or something?
Ex. Mods meant for 1.2.5 don't work on 1.4.7. Or mods for 1.4.7 don't function on 1.2.5.
